El Diario de artista

Este ejercicio ha sido propuesto por la psicóloga que entrevistamos en este mismo número

Se trata de un diario visual compuesto por imágenes, para explorar las emociones a través del tiempo. Es una actividad muy interesante para ayudar al niño a que reconozca en sí mismo los diferentes estados emocionales, para que aprenda a autoregularse y conocerse y sobre todo para ofrecerle más vías de expresión cuando las palabras resultan inaccesibles para él. Se trata de ayudar al niño a que explore e indague en sí mismo y no evitar las emociones negativas o desagradables, que también forman parte de la vida.

Muchos artistas elaboran un diario paralelamente a su obra, donde documentan experiencias del día a día, emociones, preocupaciones. Tal fue el caso de Frida Kalho (1907-1954), quien plasma en su vida, esperanzas y anhelos en su obra, pero es en 1949, por sugerencia de su amiga Olga Campos (psicóloga en la clínica psiquiátrica de Ciudad de Méjico) cuando comienza un trabajo voluntariamente terapéutico a través de la pintura, en un momento personal muy delicado (Diego Rivera propone una separación, lo que lleva a Frida a un estado depresivo profundo).

Dieter Roth (1930-1998), artista islandés de ascendencia germano-suiza, es conocido entre otras cosas por sus diarios de artista.

diario1diario2Se utiliza este recurso con niños, adolescentes y adultos, y la psicóloga nos cuenta en la entrevista de este mismo número, cómo el diario de artista es una herramienta poderosa especialmente para niños hospitalizados, que pueden plasmar sus ideas, preocupaciones, emociones asociadas a la enfermedad, vivencias del hospital, generando así una memoria del proceso de curación que les resultará útil en el momento pero también años después, una vez superada la enfermedad.

En su publicación “Mark Rothko: El color de la Emoción” (perteneciente a “ÉXODOS”, Editorial Eneida), Laura Rico expone la trayectoria vital y la obra del artista expresionista, en la que abunda lo lírico, evocando las “emociones soterradas en lo más profundo”. A partir de los escritos de Rothko sobre creatividad y arte infantil, Laura diseña una interesante actividad para trabajar el color y explorar sus posibilidades expresivas al mezclarlo con otros: “…si se animaba al niño desde un principio a dar expresión concreta a sus ideas, fantasías e inclinaciones, sin limitarlas mediante reglas académicas, surgiría mejor la actividad creativa permanente. Y proponía empezar por el color en lugar de por el dibujo”.

La Terapia del Arte propone a sus lectores que formulen a los niños la siguiente pregunta: “¿De qué color te sientes hoy?” como punto de partida para la elaboración de su primer diario de artista.

Materiales

  • Cuaderno de papel (es importante que el papel sea de buena calidad) o bien un libro antiguo, de papel grueso.
  • Pinturas y pinceles.
  • Libertad, tiempo y espacio para manchar.

Cómo llevar a cabo el primer diario de artista:

  • PASO 1: Exploración del color ¿Qué colores conoces? ¿Qué colores nuevos puedes crear a partir de los que tienes delante?
  • PASO 2: Exploración emocional y asignación de colores. ¿De qué color es la alegría? ¿De qué color es el miedo? ¿De qué color es la envidia?
  • PASO 3: Inicio del diario de artista: Siéntese un día a la semana con su hijo y preparen juntos los materiales explicados en “Materiales”, junto con los resultados de la exploración del color y exploración emocional. Formule la pregunta “¿De qué color te sientes hoy?”.

Pueden hacerlo un día marcado a la semana, compartiendo ese momento y realizando cada uno su diario personal. Se trata de que vayan adquiriendo el hábito poco a poco, y así cuando hayan pasado algunas semanas, puede proponer que cada uno siga completando su diario de artista cuando lo deseen.
