Este ejercicio ha sido propuesto por Paula Ramírez, logopeda musical que hemos entrevistado en este mismo número.

Cantar el lenguaje

“Sabemos que el hemisferio izquierdo suele albergar la zona de la corteza destinada al lenguaje, mientras que el derecho aporta la prosodia y musicalidad al lenguaje. La Logopedia tradicional interviene en el funcionamiento del hemisferio izquierdo, pero al hacerlo con ejercicios musicales, se estaría interviniendo en el derecho indirectamente, a través de las conexiones interhemisféricas. Las personas diagnosticadas de Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) tienen alteraciones en la prosodia, resultando muy monótona. Cantar el discurso es uno de los ejercicios más útiles para ellos” (Paula Ramírez).

A medida que el niño va creciendo, va construyendo y desarrollando el lenguaje y lo convierte en una herramienta de comunicación, aprendizaje y desarrollo de su inteligencia y personalidad. De modo que este ejercicio es útil para cualquier niño durante los primeros años de vida, para ir adquiriendo la musicalidad del lenguaje y poder establecer clave mnemotécnicas para recordar información. Pero también para niños con dificultades de aprendizaje debido a una baja atención sostenida (TDAH, dislexia, etc.) o niños diagnosticados con un Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) “…resulta especialmente útil la memorización de información práctica. Por ejemplo: su dirección o número de teléfono. Cantarlo ayuda enormemente a su memorización, y nos aseguramos de que nunca olvide algo tan importante como eso” (Paula Ramírez).

Con la música y la poesía, los niños asimilan mejor los conceptos nuevos y se ayuda a una mejor memorización. Paula Ramírez sugiere que inventemos canciones sobre lo que estamos haciendo, secuenciando los pasos de la actividad: limpiar los zapatos, las rutinas de la casa, el camino para ir al colegio, etc. “Para facilitar la memorización, la melodía debe tener seguir un esquema estrofa-estribillo” explica Paula “Y así poco a poco, con la repetición, el niño irá captando la estructura melódica y rítmica del lenguaje, y además encontrará más sencillo el aprendizaje de nuevas palabras”.

Para facilitar este ejercicio, La Terapia del Arte os propone la creación de melodías sencillas acompañando a los poemas de Gloria Fuertes (1917-1998), precursora de la poesía para niños en España, para después ir creando canciones más personalizadas.
